Memories

Memories.. You know i actually have a poem I wrote entitled memories, although when it comes to memories mine isn't exactly the best. I forgot to do this blog so that just proves my point right there, and anyone who knows me also knows that i don't remember a lot.

When it comes to remebering things I'm a very visual person. I like to see things in models and other creative ways to visually show an idea. Audio is another way i can learn, while it is a secondary I do seem to comprehend a lot more by hearing, and seeing than by reading. The whole concept of reading is just unapealing, but soon after picking up a book I can get into it and never want to put it down, picking it up is the hard part.

Are memories reliable? Well we all forget things wether it be whole memories, or just minor details. I for one do not think memories are reliable at all. Today I was talking about how I ate an entire box of naturevally bars a specific memory in which i was at home alone and had nothing to eat but milk, and NV bars. Truman and Zac tried to tell me that they ate a bunch of them. While humorus that they thought they were part of it, to a person that didn't actually know the memory they would have no idea which parts of which story to believe, making both stoires unreliable. Beyond this one specific story, memories in general can be exadurated with minor detail, major details, or just made up. Memories can be reliable depending on the source, but in general are not always reliable unless of course you were there, and you know for sure you remember all the details.

  1. I totally agree with what you say about memories, how we all forget some things, and add other things. We, as humans, seem to try and make our stories more bombast than other peoples, which sometimes leads to those fish tails. Sometimes you remember things better than other times, such as if the event is really important to you.

  2. I find that memories are odd. Because the weirdest things will trigger a memory. Something you see or smell or feel and all the sudden you find your self remembering some point in your life, it's rather strange.

  3. I agree with Scarlett, some memories just pop up out of the blue and its the weirdest thing. But there are certain things that happen on the days that those memories are made and if you, see, smell, or feel something you did on that same day, its going to being that memory whether you want to remember or not that's just the way that it works.

  4. The memories you hold don't have to be intellectual. The smallest things can be memorized by your brain from a certain sound to the smallest scent on the breeze, your brain remembers.

  5. I agree. And you know, sometimes, people can lie about one thing so many times, that they actually convince themselves it happened. False memories are completely unreliable. Still, memories are precious, and sometimes all we have left of places or things that are dear to us

  6. I agree memories arent as reliable as people make them out to be. Once you start telling a story you know your telling it in a different way someone told you, because you cant remember every detail. I remember playing this game in Psych where someone tells you a lot of little details and you have to tell it to the next person as much as you remember and by the time your down to the last person it wasnt even the right thing that they started off with because people dont have that great of memories and you really cant trust it really.
